Bryce Canyon is an amazing place. not really a canyon at all, it's the eastern face of a plateau that's been eroded into the weirdest shapes imaginable. early in the morning, when the sun is just above the horizon, the light bounces and reflects among the "hoodoos" and produces the most astonishing colors. an hour later, everything is almost uniformly dull orange... it pays to get up early sometimes! Canon 30D, 24-135 @ 111mm, 1/160 @ f/10

thanks! actually, no, this was taken from Sunset Point, looking across a small ravine at the hoodoos on the other side. (Sunset Point is a bit of a misnomer, since at sunset, everything you can see from there is in shadow... who knew?)

tweaked ever so slightly... a bit of a bump in contrast and sharpness, that's about it.

Ahah, I caught you this time. Before I even opened the thread I knew it was one of your canyon photos. Hoodoo is fresh in my mind from my trip there. They are fascination examples of nature's artwork. You've captured them well.

I also love Bryce....I was meaning to put some pics I took there too..but they don't compare to yours. I was on a road trip with some GF's and I was pretty much taking pics on the fly...but loved all the parks around there.

BTW....Beautiful shot!

Dear SQUIRL033,
I have visited Bryce several times, and this is the best hoodoo shot I have ever seen. Nice job!
Cheers,
Michael
