Had some time to play this evening. My Dobby Puppy, Blitz, loves to go to the park and chase a red ball my wife throws. I've been playing with blur motion...I made this into a new screen saver for my 17 inch MacBook Pro laptop. Would be fun to see some of the shots you'all use for screen savers on your computers.

Here's mine. This is oldest one. When she sees me with the camera she rolls her eyes and says, "Grandpa," and then goes about her thing Ooops wrong one.

Looks like your puppy needs a cape. I love Dobermans.
I do not use many of my pictures for screen savers or wallpaper. Here is a photo I used before I started buying lenses. This is with the EF-S 18-55 piece of garbage kit lens that came with my xti. 1/80 shutter (as fast as I could get in good lighting), 1600 ISO, f 5.6 (because it would not let me go larger???) and no flash. Now you know why I advocate glass over camera.
Still, that is my daughter plowing through their defense.

I change my screen pictures often. Here are the two that I use at home and at work....

Home - Taken in SF two days after Christmas. Kind of a bittersweet memory. My wife's father died on Christmas afternoon in Indonesia. We still ended up going.

Work - I work for a major healthcare provider who's slogan rhymes with drive. The default wallpaper on everyone's computer is a little boy swimming under water. I hate that picture so I have changed it to have him being chased by a shark, flying through space..... I always wanted to replace him with me.....For this, I was balancing on a stool and had my daughter take the shot. My expression is real; I almost fell off face first.

You'll think of him every time you see the Golden Gate. So sorry for you and your wife's loss.

#2 is hilarious; a great one for work

Do any of you guys know what the BEST size and dpi is for your photos to look their best on this site. My flying dobby photo looks like doggy poo here compared to what it looks like as my screen saver. I made it nine inches by 14 inches at 100 dpi, jpeg. Because that was the physical size of my screen, the jpeg should have been just dandy and the computer screen really shouldn't see any better that 72 dpi... Can't decide if I should recut the RAW file to some other standard for this application.....???

I'll put up a couple of girl's basketball shots I made this year but not till I figure out what the best "recipe" is for this site....what size, dpi, format, etc. I don't like the way my doberman looks here...much better on my laptop screen and it is exactly the same file.

Looking at this after a night's sleep...some of you guys try this please...take a look at the original flying doberman shot in the first image. Note the flat, greyish greens...now do something to eliminate the surrounding yellow from the UHH page.I'm curling up my fist like a telescope and looking through the "hole" so I only see the dog and some grass...It looks a lot better to my eye...I'm thinking what I'm seeing is being influenced by all the surrounding yellow. When I look at color on my darkroom, calibrated moniter I use a totally neutral grey background. I think everyone's work might look better if they changed this pale yellow to a neutral grey....what say you...color geeks????
