I also have a pair of single vision glasses made for the distance I normally sit from the computer screen.

It helps when one of your friends is an Ophthalmologist. But arms-length should do it.

Bi-focals here. Progressives. Yes, I have to tilt my head back a little but don't really notice it now that I'm used to it.

I use prescription glasses that allow good vision of the monitor display at the distance for working on a computer.

For general purposes, I wear 2.75 power glasses from the drugstore or from Costco or CVS in a package of three. Try on glasses of a different power at your typical reading distance, until you find the ones that produce the best focus on the page.

I regularly wear bifocals and find it bothersome to PP photos on my 27" monitor because of trying to get the close vision portion of the glasses focused on different ares of the screen.

I have thought of getting a pair of reading glasses from the drugstore that I believe would enable me to eliminate the bobbing and weaving while trying to focus on all areas of the screen.

Has anyone else run into this problem and what do you use.

I wear progressive bi-tri focals. Long ago I got tired of the kink in my neck from tilting my head back so I could focus on the computer screen. I had the optician make me a pair of "computer glasses" with the lenses cut so they would focus at fingertip distance from my eyes. Works great for the computer and anything else that requires close work for long periods.

   This is what I wear and it is so much better than bifocals. Started out years ago with bifocals and was constantly tilting the head up or down to focus. That is all history with the progressive lenses. It is as easy now as it used to be before needing bifocals.

I use my 'Reading' prescription single lens glasses. Bridge of nose to screen distance, anywhere from 12 to 18 inches. I also have TV glasses for a distance of 12 feet (to read small print).

I wear progressives but, they are not worth a hoot for the computer. I have some inexpensive reading glasses that work great at about two feet or arms length.

I too have roughly 8 to 10 pairs of reading glasses stationed everywhere, just in case

If you've a specific need for a particular application get another pair. I couldn't see the screen clearly on the rear of my 60D when using using mirror lock up. So I bought a 1 pair with a higher dioptre for this specific purpose. Never looked back (pardon the pun). Try a cheap pair from the chemist first and see if it's worth investing a better pair from your optician.

$10 specials for close-up (1-4 feet) and started wearing them when the images on the CRT went fuzzy.

I wear progressive lenses for daily use, but find plain old, cheap reading glasses best for computer work, since the reading portion of my normal glasses is a bit narrow and I find myself having to tilt my head back to be able to read at my desk. Usually can get "cheaters" pretty cheap just about anywhere. There's a pair that stays right at my computer desk.

I use drugstore glasses but lately been thinking about having my optometrist make me some just for the computer.

I have trifocals and just push the glasses further up on my nose and I can see close up fine.

That's what I use after having cataract surgery a few years ago. I get $1.00 glasses, either 1X or 2X from the Dollar Tree. The 1X is good for the computer, but 2X is better for things close-up. For one dollar, they are a very good deal.

I wear progressives. I don't really need glasses for distance, but for close-up stuff. The problem is I work on computers, assembling them, changing components etc. I also work on cars. My progressives are not so good there. I never can find the range. So, I have 4 pairs of Dollar General glasses in different powers that I use for different ranges. It's a real pain in the butt.
