Nikon D750 - cannot move focus square

I have my D750 set to AF-S / single but the focus square will not move when I press the arrows on the multi selector pad. The focus square border line is red for only a fraction of a second then turns black.
I tried to find an answer in the UHH Search section but could not.
I watched a YouTube video on how to do this but my D750 did not do what the video showed. What am I doing wrong?
Thanks for any help. ~FiddleMaker

There is a lock switch incorporated into the multi-selector on the rear of the camera. Is it in the lock position?

T_Span, I do feel like an idiot. Yes, the multi selector was accidentally set to the lock position. Problem solved. Thanks much.

I am wondering if the Nikon service center put it a locked position when I sent the camera out for a recall replacement of the shutter because I know that I did not intentionally lock it. Perhaps I did and did not know it. Oh well, at least I now know about it. ~FiddleMaker

A kind Hog helped me out of the same predicament a while back...and it came in handy at a maternity photoshoot last weekend. The switch was just slightly out of its AF position. Whew!

That little lock switch has had me scratching my head a few times. It's cool when you get the "ah-ha" moment.

I chuckled when I saw your post. I spent an entire DAY figuring this one out! And I continue to inadvertently hit the lock switch. At least we know now ...

jdm, well at least you figured it out. I never did. Perhaps it is because I am impatient and wanted an answer ASAP. I checked my D7000 and that also has a lock position same as the D750. ~FiddleMaker

I know you have a D600 so maybe you would tell me where the lock switch is. I didn't even know there was one.

It will drive you nuts until the ah ha moment when you figure it out. It's funny. I don't remember the last time I actually used the lock button.
