We call them LadyBugs. In the UK you might call them LadyBirds.

Thanks Annemarie. My Grandmother used to recite this to me, more than 65 years ago. So I guess Lady birds have been around more than 30 years or so.

I do not get the thread title of death of a friend, then you see a photo of ladybugs/birds/aliens whatever. out of focus i might add. macro is very hard to master and beyond my horrible eye sight to attempt, so I aplude your efforts. fyi many of our nursery rymes are actualy scary. rock a bye baby in a tree tall.... Ring around the rosey is actualy about the bubonic plague, which early symptons included a rose colored skin discolaration and in the middle ages they thought by carrying the flower posies it would ward off the grim reaper. bizzare but true
