Affordable aftermarket inks

Anyone have any suggestions for affordable third party inks for Epson inkjet printers that are NOT refills? I print much more than just photos, so ink can get quite pricey. Thanks in advance.

I have two Canon printers. I use Canon ink in the PRO 100 for photos and in the other for everything else I use 'Simply Ink.' I've used it for about six or seven years not and never a problem.

I think if you go to the top of this page in the blue prints click on "SEARCH' and put in something like what you are looking for; whatever has been discussed on the forum in regards to that will come up; works like Google but not quite as good.

Have been using Cone Inks in both my 3880's for about five years now, easily refillable carts, and encapsulated pigment ink. Saving a ton of money as I print a lot, nothing like a print you can hold in your hand or hang on your wall.

Be careful, very careful. I run a Epson Stylus Photo 1400, and was extremely happy with my prints, after monitor/printer calibration, but unsatisfied with Epson's $20+ cost per cartridge. Convinced myself that other-than Epson at close to 1/3 the cost was the answer. WRONG!

As I replaced cartridge one at a time, really didn't notice anything at first. A slow uneasy feeling as occasionally a print wouldn't completely successfully agree with the screen image. Suddenly, actually when I replaced 2 color cartridges simultaneously my dear old friends, the color guys in the print, went crazy. I couldn't get a correct color printing regardless of what I did.

Out of frustration, and panic that my printer was dying, I ordered a full set of cartridges from Epson.

Printed the image I wanted, on plain white letter paper, tired of wasting good costly photo paper. Next I swapped ALL the cartridges out, and ran 2 print head cleaning. Thought of all that espensive ink going to cleaning! Then, same settings on my calibration, same printer setting, all identical, save ink, I printed, again on white bond paper, THE image!

A world of difference. Heaven only knows, for I won't tell the wife, and don't want to know myself, the $$$'s in paper I threw away! All is much better now! Much More Better Now!

Again. My advise, non-Epson Ink in Epson Printer ..... be very careful! A cheap b/w printer for non-photo work would be a better investment!

As mentioned in previous posts in this thread, not all replacement ink cartridges are of equal quality. After reading comments from scores of other printer owners' experience concerning secondary ink manufacturers, I settled on L-K Product cartridges. I am quite pleased with the accurate color and the reliability of the L-K cartridges.
