Off camera flashes

I currently have the Phottix Odin TCU and a couple of the TTL receivers, my speed lights are a Nikon SB800 and a Phottix Mitros. I want/need to add more speed lights to my group and I don't like TTL and adding triggers to the current system is like $137.00 each. Also for my key light I would like to use something like a Godox 360w flash for more power and the speed lights for accent lighting. Recommendation for a trigger system that would work with all the different lights? I was looking at the Cactus V6 but know if that would trigger something like the Godox light.

Use one as the master and the rest as slaves. Then you don't need all those triggers.

Simple, low-tech, inexpensive, old-school solution.
(kwbybee: With the Nikon SB-800's, use the SU-4 mode for simple slave triggering.)

I use a set of cheap Vello triggers/receivers. Three receivers and a trigger were about $60(?). The receivers should work on any light but the trigger has to be for the camera.
The problem with the slaves is you need line of site without a radio receiver. The Vellos are cheap and have worked well for me. I'm sure the Wizards are better but as you said, way more money. The more expensive, the more radio range. Good luck. ;-)

SS: I have had issues with flashes going to "sleep" when using radio triggers unless it was designed for that specific brand.
Any experience with that?

Goofy - I don't (yet) use the Cactus V6 trigggers, but, if you look at this set-up video dealing with this unit (at 3mins 50secs), the trainer says you can turn off the speedlight and the V6 will still power the speedlight. Whether this answers your "sleep" situation or not I don't know ....... just thought I'd chip in !

If you're working in a studio environment, these are adequate.

Cool system!
A friend who shoots Canon sometimes borrows my Nikon flashes and the receivers she has don't keep the flashes from the sleep mode. These would be perfect for her.
I've read about these but never saw this link.
Thanks.

The Peanuts work great, as long as you are the only one flashing!

The Godox AD 360 is a manual flash, so the power setting capability of the V6 will not be available. Godox have released a new 360W flash for Nikon that is TTL, so it is likely that the power setting capability will work for that flash.

I use the V6 often; they have 4 groups and allow remote power setting with compatible TTL flashes. The flashes don't even have to be recent; I use Nikon SB-28 and SB-80 flashes with them, as well as Olympus FL-50/50R. And they work with my Quantum T2/X2 flashes (even the Quantum controllers won't work with them). I have used them along with a Quantum Trio/T5Dr TTL setup. You can also use them as remote triggers, and they have TTL pass-thru.

They allow one to quickly re-balance lighting, and are great when using booms where it's a pain to get at the flash.

I also have an Odin setup for my Nikon SB910/SB800 setup, which I use only in a true run and gun environment where I don't have time to meter.

I highly recommend them if you want groups and remote power. If you just want to trigger, there are less expensive options (I have a mess of Pixel Soldiers, for example).

Stratos are compatible with Odin; I don't think Ares are compatible.

Don't forget ..... there are some 6 videos by the same South African guy relating to all the different uses of the V6 ...... a really useful tool for anyone wanting to learn its versatility. All videos can be found in the right hand column on the YouTube link.

I have Canon and Yongnuo. There is a configuration setting in both types of flashes (since Yongnuo seems to duplicate Canon) to disable sleep mode. I would suggest she set this to avoid the sleepy flashes.
