I must confess to a certain fascination with these things. They have become more common place in this area over the last ten years or so.....

They are very popular in my area also. I pass at least 3 of them when I go to work.

I spent summers in Mexico in my teens and remember seeing these.... Looks like they've migrated north and crossed cultural barriers as well....
Between Blythe CA and Phoenix AZ along I-10, there are at least 20 such memorials.
They're all over in California. They look more like litter and shouldn't be allowed. That's why we have cemeteries!
