NEF file issue with Camera Raw 8.5

I've just added a Nikon 1 J5 to my small collection and I'm having a problem opening the NEF files using Camera Raw 8.5 in Photoshop Elements 12, all I get is a pop up saying the camera is not recognised and yet its' shown on the list of compatible cameras??
My D7000 files open with out any problem; are any fellow hoggers having similar issues?
I've contacted both Nikon and Adobe but as yet have had no response from either.
Many thanks.

Doe perhaps need a newer version of ACR? If you're running Windows, the raw converter is a separate program (on the Mac there's one built into OS X). Either way, as new cameras come out the converters need to be updated to be able to decode the raw file.

ACR 9.5 is the latest, I believe.

You need 9.1 Camera Raw or higher for the Nikon 1 J5. Your version of Elements 12 only supports up to 8.5.

As Klaus indicated, you'll need to upgrade your Elements.

Thank you one and all for the advice. As a ON1 Photo 10 user and didn't want to purchase Elements 14 but its looking like I'll have to now, oh well.
I'll wait to see if I get any more help from Nikon or Adobe before going ahead and upgrading to PS14.
Thanks again folks.
