I found at least six eagles that provided a great photo-op following church today. Lucky I had brought my new 100-400L mk2 on the 5d mk3 along for another reason. This looked like two family groups mixed together. The immature birds look like they are larger than parents, but are definitely more klutzy in their flight. Fun to watch and rather close up, maybe fifty yards on the ground and various distances in flight. It was a dull, low-contrast day so all photos were cropped, color corrected and slightly sharpened as needed. The recently killed deer on the lunch menu wasn't there on the way to church.
The pastor's sermon was good, but the photo-op may have been just a wee bit better!!

Very nice series of shots! Great opportunity. The good Lord provided a meal for those eagles. :-) Cheers.
Thanks for looking, yes i was lucky to have the right tools at the right time.
Definitely not into sharing are they?

Yeah, lots of squawking, screeching and inter-family rivalry.
Great shots. Nothing like being in the right place at the right time.
