Barred Owl visits

Every afternoon, I get a visit around 2 or 3 to the tree next door. He or she calls to her mate, then stays for a while. I have really enjoyed it's visits. Sorry the photos are not very good. I am looking for a new zoom lens.

I think they are great photos--would have been better if that one little branch wasn't across the owl's face, but that is out of your control. Is that a blue jay who was visiting on the right side of the second photo?

That blue Jay tried to run him off yesterday. It must have a nest nearby. The owl just puffed up and stayed put. I think he comes there because there is alot of Spanish moss for camouflage. Takes awhile to spot him when I hear him.

Photos look very nice to me. Getting an owl can be very challenging with where they like to hang out.

Nice capture. To me it seems that the zoom lens that you are using is working very well and your focusing is good too, if not, the two stick would have been in focus and we may have wondered what you had been shooting. Still looking for my first Barred Owl shot. What's that lens that you are using? If it comes programed for Barred Owls let me know and I'll buy it when you get your new one. :) :) :)

Mine is an older Tamron 75-300 macro zoom. I have had it repaired with Tamron 2 times over the 6 year period, so I'm not going to spend money having it checked again. It is soft focusing alot of the time. I just purchased a used Canon zoom from another member. The Tamron was cheap, and took many wonderful shots.
