I bought this pitcher at the antique mall $8. Thought it would make a good still life. Took me 4 weeks to figure something out. I have my final picture. Then my Original Picture. Then my workflow in Photoshop. What do you think? Jim

Appreciate your nice words. I wanted to post this to give other Hogs some ideas that they might want to try.

Love the still life, Jim: the jug and grapes are sharp; the vignette is a perfect touch; the lighting just right. I have one question (in no way is this a critique) would the background be improved if it was a tad out of focus? I ask because on clicking download it is very sharp.
I applaud the time and effort you put into it. It is a beautiful composition.

Jim my man I normally cannot stand still life photos, simply cos I see em as too easy, but this I can live with.
It is indeed very attractive.
And thank the Lord you avoided the book the wine glass a rose and a pair of spectacles that normally accompany these things!
Trust all is well with you Regards Billy.

Well thought out, well constructed, lit and photographed. And I must say the the pp really makes the image. Beautiful.

This image is great and very pleasing. Your hope for the $8 purchase was fulfilled. I especially like that you included the original and workflow. That really helps a PP neophyte like me to understand what you did to accomplish your goal. Much appreciated. Sorry for the late response. Work limits my 'hog' time.

For some reason I missed the last several responses from this post.

Shakey – Thanks for your thoughts. The background is made up of textures. I think what would have been better for separation is to have added a light coming from the back of the pitcher.

Billy-Thanks for stopping by. Coming up with the shot for still life take some time and a lot of thought, at least for me. I try a lot of stuff that has no merit. I thinkI will try shooting this one again with some back light.

Lsimpkins- Thanks for your comments. Appreciate you taking time to drop by.

Rdandave- Thank you

I do like this work, particularly how you brought the grapes out with your lighting. I'm inspired to try a still life. Thanks Jim.
