I will be taking a trip t Africa in August and did not want to take a laptop with me. Does anyone have experience with portable memory card back up devices such as the Nexto DI ND2901. Any help will be greatly appreciated.

I use my camera, shooting to two cards at once. But if you can't do that Western Digital makes a drive with built in WiFi that can transfer images from a SD card.

Just remember this is a backup. It should not be an excuse to format and reuse the card. It's also not a great backup since all photos are in the same physical location.

Try this out, portable battery-powered hard drive and 5" viewer with built in card reader. Great for travelers.

And seeing as we have no idea what your trip includes I would also suggest looking into a portable pocket size power pack. Sticking with the Foci theme they have 3 models ranging from $40 to $70. I could not find them on B&H but they do sell direct (including the above) at http://www.digitalfoci.com/products/df-power-solutions/battery-porter-12000.html

Hope you have a great time. :-D Wish I was going back but there are just too many places around this ball of dirt.
