Amazon is taking pre-orders for David Busch’s guide to the Sony A6300 at $28.75. Could be a good investment – new copies of his guide to the A6000 are selling for $1,201 to $3,405 on Amazon!!!
Yes – three grand for a guide book for a$600 camera (or less now)!!!

Any individual who spends $1,200 to $3,400 for an operating manual deserves to be locked in a rubber room for the balance of his life or the expiration of his camera warranty, whichever comes first.

I ordered his book when I first got my Sony (but 20..something dollars, not thousands!) and it never arrived; so I bought the Kindke version of Freidman's book while I was waiting. After several months and no show, I cancelled the order. Guess they didn't want to sell it to me for twenty something dollars!!!!

I bought a copy of the Busch book on the A6000 at the local Barns and Noble. I don't recall what exactly it cost me but I'm quite sure it was well under $50. It is a great book, but if someone really wants to give me $1200 for it just let me know.

I have a suspicion that these high prices are set in the hope that some CEO will ask his (or her) secretary to buy a copy and the order will go through without anyone questioning it. It's hard to believe anyone (outside of the very, very wealthy) would intentionally spend so much of their own money for a copy.

I am curious why the book seems to be out of print, however. I suspect that a second printing will, before long, cause prices to drop.

I downloaded my copy from iBooks in iOS. It is nice to have on my iPad and iPhone.

If Sony would supply a decent manual with the camera the after market books would not be in high demand.
I am told that there is a place to go to down load a pdf manual for this camera. I have never been able to find the site. All that i can find is one that has all the information isolated preventing down loading it.
Digital has brought many wonderful things.Good ergonomics isn't one of them.

If you need a something other than the manual that comes with the camera, the camera is too complicated to use. Thats been my main problem with the Sony cameras.

In designing a product there is often a trade-off to be made between flexibility and ease of use; with high-technology products this can be a trade-off between huge extremes and there is no pleasing everyone. Fortunately there are many products out there and this is quite true when it comes to cameras.

Probably more people want a camera with just one button that sets off an exposure than those who want anything more complicated. And of course the market provides many variations close to this point-and-shoot ideal. The Sony A6000 comes close to the opposite extreme with a lot of options and ways to customize it. The penalty is that you need a manual and in fact quite a lot of study to master all of its options. I'm still struggling to get that level of mastery of it.

That being said, you can use the A6000 quite effectively without learning much at all. It has two automatic settings and you really don't have to even understand the difference; just set the camera to one of them, leave it there and shoot like you would with the simplest point-and-shoot. But the user can decide whether and when to study to get more out of the camera, but it actually is not a requirement; it's just that some people want to.

$1201 to $3405 is Amazon's price for the special Kuwaiti Sheik Edition where paying more makes it better.

The camera is easy to use right out of the box. The manual that comes with it is practically useless. Yes, there is a full manual from Sony available on line. However, I, for one, like to know everything about the cameras I use AND I'm curious as to what menu settings "professionals" & others use or recommend.

Wanting a good book to learn from does not mean that the camera is too complicated. If you want simple, use your phone, and I will learn all I can from what I have...that will make it uncomplicated.
