Dear John

I was in the RAF during the war and quite often we would get a Dear John letter, that for those who do not know, means the girl friend or wife has met someone else quite often,I'm afraid, a GI.
We had a pool of photographs and the recipient would send half a dozen back to the girl and tell her to take hers and send the others back as he had forgotten what she looked like.
A bit petty I suppose but it did help the hurt a bit.

War brings out the cruelty in people. :D

I could never understand how a woman could send a man in combat a Dear John letter. Not exactly morale booster.

It was featured on an episode of MASH. Still it was sad to occur. I wonder if woman in the service get Dear Jane letters?

Some woman crave attention and comfort and the company of a man. A military man on duty far away cannot satisfy such a woman. She will find another who can give her what she needs.
