These meetup groups- which I belong to 3 of then- are quite informal compared to groups associated with organized well established groups that have regular meeting that include training, competition, general "show & tell" and of course field trips I joined my first camera club - Diablo Valley Camera Club a local chapter of the CA state wide N4C grop in Martinez, CA so I could learn how to really us my first SLR back in '92 -none of that mine is better than your's stuff.

Harvey, DVCC is MY camera club. Joined about six years ago! Great club and very much responsible for much of my success in photography. Small world.

DANG I miss Joe and the rest of the gang - I learned so much from that group- '92 to '00 when we moved to MX when we moved back here in '05 we settled up here in the Sierras 100+ mi from Martinez but always think of them when I am doing photography- we need to have coffee and chat at "Foster's" if it is still open.

I am thinking about joining a local photography club, "The Lakeland Shooters".
Hopefully to help me learn more and to get me out meeting other photographers in the area.

1) Are there any other fellow Hogger's members of this club?
2) Would it be beneficial joining a photography club?

Joining a camera club is good because hands on assistance is a great help ! Posting and checking out in UHH can be very beneficial as well ! There is a wealth of experience to draw on . A listing of previous questions and answered attached to each UHH publication that is very informative as well . Master the equipment you own and use and enjoy your photography !

Not sure about your club: I do belong to a club, very small in a 55+ community. We have three goals. 1. Be social, 2. learn and perfect some new techniques, and 3. Have fun and get out and take and share pictures.
