Hi everyone, open to your ideas ! I do my own prints & frame them, normally i cut a window in the mat then apply the text to the inside, I'm now wanting to apply the text straight onto the mat without cutting a window. so the text needs too stick also have the option for choosing different colors.. someone recommended the " cricut machine " don't know much about them as yet ..

Chris, I sign the matte just below the lower right corner of the opening. I usually use little pressure so the signature is faint. I work with the people that frame my photographs and they will call me when the matte is cut and I'll stop by, sign it, and they will then finish the framing.

Here's my WAG:
Get clear label media, at your fav office supply store, use your word processor program, or your photo PP program to make your label(s) and print them on a color printer.
I do see a drawback, though - the label will most likely show.
A sign print shop could have a large format printer that can print directly onto the matte board before you mount your pic & complete the framing job.
Good luck!!
A hobby store and a ruler to line up the letter stickers works wonders.
How about a program that lets you print business cards. You can choose the card stock, print what you want on it and secure the card to the matt before you put it behind glass.

You could get a few sheats of Letra Set (letters available in all sizes)!
Try rub-on letters. If you Google Rub-On letters, several places will be listed as to where you can get them. They come in all different kinds of font's. Test first though, to make sure they won't come off if directly touching the glass. You could also get little foam spacers and put one in each corner of the frame, so that the mat will not directly touch the glass. You can get the foam spacers at Jo Ann's Fabrics, by the frame department. They can be cut to whatever size you would need.

I think using business cards would be noticeable even if behind glass because there would be a little edge around the card. I think the best method would be to use small clear labels and cut them down to a smaller size if necessary.

You might try a Wyman Gold stamp machine. You can use either gold foil or silver foil. I had a set of movable type and this was the way I marked my studio name and copy right date on photos. Also information such as Class of 19-- on group class photos. It worked on any type of paper and was permanent. You can probably find them on Ebay and the foil and type in hobby shops.

Oooh. Something in gold or silver would look very nice on a mat of practically any color.
Thanks Bob for your input, i do sign my pics at bottom right corner but what i meant was " the main title heading " thanks again ..
The clear media might work but like you said, it might be visible ? after a bit of research i found that mat isn't a very good media for printing on as the ink could leech around the text but it might be worth a try .. thanks !
Will check it out. cheers !
Letters sound promising ! especially if they come in different sizes and colors .. Thanks will check it out
