This cross was recently constructed in Lake City SC. It is 110 ft tall and 60 ft. wide, was put on private land and built with private funds. Spearheaded by members of the Lake City First Baptist Church. What a wonderful testament of faith this represents.
I agree what a testament. It is time we Christians come out of hiding and stop turning the other cheek. I wonder how long it will take the ACLU to try to have it taken down because it hurts someone's feelings

Hi... I live near Effingham, and the cross there is purported to be 198 feet tall and 113 feet wide.... Here is some information on it (Sorry I do not have a picture I have taken myself..
http://www.roadsideamerica.com/story/10913 The info is good and interesting... It SEEMS to me that the author is a bit "anti Christian" but I may be totally wrong on that... The site includes a picture..
If one is coming East from St. Louis on I-70, the road makes a fairly hard left about 1/2 mile from the Cross... But when you clear a small clump of trees, the Cross is totally visible and is rather breathtaking, even if you (as I ) have seen it in that manner several times...

Wrangler (Wow! What is it made of?) The cross is made of steel. It looks like it came in pieces and they bolted it together. I am not part of the group that had it constructed. I read about it and stopped to see it going through Lake City SC on my way home in Socastee SC.

Stop turning the other cheek? What other parts of the teachings of Jesus should we discontinue?
If this structure is on private property and paid for by private funds, then I doubt very much if the ACLU cares. The ACLU is not in the business of protecting people's hurt feelings, put protecting the rule of law. Remember, you may think that the ACLu is full of evil liberals, but this organization has defended both the Klan and the Nazis in 1st Amendment cases.
