We took a walk yesterday and found new babies! Two nesting pair of sandhills have had hatchlings in the past week. The great blue heron babies are getting bigger. We are looking forward to some limpkin babies soon!
As I have said before - we are really blessed to have this special place nearby. The birds are so used to people walking by that you can get unusually close to them, allowing for unbelievable photo opportunities.
Momma and one-week-old chick.
Great blue and baby
Another crane with 3-day old behind it (to the left)
And... a baby alligator of course!
And a pretty snake crossing the road!
Great series. Love them all!
Great set, and you surely are blessed, Steve and thanks for sharing!

Great shots Steve, it's good to see some nesting, the weather in the glades is so bad, I have not seen any breeding colors or nests. Hope we have a dry winter next year
I don't think there is any such thing as a pretty snake, just my opinion. Like the other photos.

There are two anhinga nests at Corkscrew Swamp. The high water does not seem to be a problem for them. As you say, the other waders do not have breeding plumage. I have seen the usual nesting at Venice Rookery and Wakodahatchee Wetlands.

Thanks Gregory - I hope the bad thunderstorms we have had the past two days haven't caused too much damage!

I have rarely seen a snake that was not beautiful - although some are certainly more beautiful from a distance!

Thanks, Swampy - it is one of those places that makes you feel blessed every time you walk through and watch the wildlife.
All are excellent and who could resist the babies?
Excellent set!
