Is there a quick and simple, step by step, way to set up the 910 as a slave and be able to control the output from an SB 700 master without memorizing a tome full of instructions? Or is it better to reverse it and have the 910 as master and the 700 as slave? I'm lost in a quagmire of indecipherable instructions.

Get the Nikon or Debao SU 800 commander unit.

Or a radio system like the Phottix Odin.

It makes a difference what camera you are using. If the camera is a 3000 or 5000 series you need the SU 800 commander unit and then you can set both speed lights as slaves. Otherwise use one as the commander and the other as a slave. In that case I believe I would use the SB910 as the commander mounted on the camera and the SB700 as a slave. If you are using a camera that supports the creative lighting system you can use the on-camera flash as the commander to trigger both flashes as slaves using the built-in infrared network. No trigger unit needed. I do this a lot with two SB600s and a D80 or D7100. Set up is very easy. Just follow the instructions for the speed lights and camera set up for the creative lighting system (CLS). Have a GREAT DAY!
