Too much shadow, too dark. I would wait for better light.

I think the shadows could be easily pp'd. Nice composition.

The shadows add dimension and also add framing to the photo. I could remove some of the shadows but then the photo would appear flat.

It is not good light, nor is it a good image. Better light would be a sunset or twilight. I would not even post a corrected version. Come back when you can post images like these...

I am not being mean but by comparison these are images people would post and buy...

I DO NOT BELIEVE IN PP or should I say very little. I have seem similar images printed by David Muench of Arizona Highways. BTW one's imagination is still in vogue in photography and everything is not always spelled out. Zion is a canyon of walls and one wall is essentially the same as the other wall. What I am sayings is if you see the one wall it will be the same as the darkened wall. BTW the photo by Phil Bird is essentially the same.

Also I mentioned it looked better much better in download but my computer for some strange reason will now allow it.

I don't understand, "I don't believe in PP". PP is the digital darkroom. Everyone in digital or film post processed. Unless, you can get it right in the camera but that in part is a mastery of ISO, Aperture and Shutter Speed. Today's modern lenses have glass to remove distortion and increase sharpness, coatings to enhance saturation, and reduce flares, add in a filter and you can reduce reflection , etc. With all the modern technology including histograms, modern flashes you can get close to getting it ALL right in camera and I did not mention blending multiple exposures or focus stacking techniques to get a perfect image? Try getting results from a pin hole device, as that is pure photography. No one does that.

The first person IMO to really post process was Ansel Adams. He specifically used light and chemicals to get the output he wanted. His most famous image, "Moonrise Hernandez" took five years to get it to where he wanted it. In the effort he eliminated clouds. If you don't believe in PP you are in the minority excluding some of the greatest photographers of all time - A. Adams, and you will likely never produce quality output at least not anything you would print, mat, frame, display and sell.

So you are a big PP person while I am not. End of discussion. I am not competing with you, Adams, Muench.
I will PP as much as I feel necessary, when I do decide too.
BTW photography is an art form not a lab form.

I have been teaching photography at the college level for nearly 20 years. PP as necessary is fine... "I don't believe in PP" as you said are entirely different approaches. Once accepts PP as part of photography, the other rejects it. No doubt photography is an art form - you use what tools are appropriate to achieve the art. PP does not make it an art, whether you include it or not. - I think we are done ...

1.) I would never take a class from you.
2.) You are paid to grade your students others you should cut some slack.
3.) You are too condescending.
4. Since you brought up Ansel Adams all of his photos are therefore fair game. So you should do yourself a favor and look up Winter Sunrise.
5.) The reason for the forum is for diverse thought and as a teacher at a college level you should be subject to those ideas.
6.) No one died and made you the administrator of this site.
7.)There is a saying you should learn and employ. You cannot make your candle shine any brighter by putting out some else's candle.

You are welcome to my classes ...
I have been teaching for 20 years plus - always received the highest reviews form students and peers otherwise I would have not been teaching, lecturing, publishing and displaying work as along as I have. I have literally taught thousands - how about yourself?
What should and should be in this forum is subjective and judgmental. Where are the rules that restricts?
This is an open public forum and you and I are free to do and say what you and I like.

Let get this clear. This is an open public forum. If it is not to your liking then my all means find another.
