Just wondering if any UHH's have taken the photography classes offered by "The Great Courses" folks. And opinions of them.
I've viewed several of their courses, when they are on sale. Joel Sartore's "Fundamentals of Photography" provided some new understanding of our hobby. When I was writing a family history, I used their course on writing non-fiction to some benefit. Their "Joy of Science" is another good one. But there's no need to pay full price, because they have frequent sales.

There is another thread regarding The Great Courses
here. You may want to take a look.
I bought the one offered by NatGeo's Joe Sartore and found it to be good and inspirational. It was around five or six CD's long. Over all it was a good course and you can watch at your leisure and over again if you like.
Just thinking, I should get my order together and sell it, I may try to do that sometime.
The worst part of the deal is if you order it, you will get a great courses flier every two days for the rest of your life. You can't get them off your back wanting you to buy more and more. You can't burn them fast enough, they will cut down a forest to make the paper to keep sending you fliers. I got so sick of them that I swore I would never crack open another flier from those people.
Thanks for your reply, Dleebrick

I have bought lots of those courses, and I've gotten many from the local library system. Joel Sartori has two on the fundamentals, and they are both very good, although I preferred the first one. He gives excellent advice. These are both labeled "Fundamentals," and that's what they cover, but anyone can learn something from his tips. Most of the sample photos he shows look like pictures you've seen in Nat Geo. He has a good eye and lots of patience.

I get catalogs and letters several times a month. I wish they'd save their money and send me emails, instead. :D
Thanks for the links, Ondsnap
