Often, I have wondered what is the purpose or reason that some our members opting for "In Hiding" when they join UHH.
Do any of you members, as myself, who have given your locations, ever ask yourself what is the purpose behind a member not wanting for others to know, at least, what state, country, or province they reside in?

It's not that they opt to put "in hiding". If a person doesn't post anything for their location in their profile then the system automatically enters that. Some people will post something like "from California" if they don't want us to know they are in Carson City, Nevada. :)

A lot of the time a photograph has a lot more meaning if I know what area it was taken in. I see no reason for a Hogger not to at least give a general location. I have nothing to hide and don't care for someone knowing who I am and where I live.

Some people just miss entering a location. I did, and someone gave me a hard time for being "in hiding". I took another look at 'My Profile' and discovered where to enter the info.

It would be easy to find out where the person is, if someone wants to know. I guess, there are few people, if any, that are able to stay "anonymous.".. :D

Maybe some folks with a large investment in photo gear don't want to make it too easy for someone to target them for a burglary!

I think it would be interesting to know because I look for people from where I am now or places where I used to live, but it isn't important to me.

It's an old question that's been gone over many times here. For one reason or another they don't want anyone to know and when they post a photo, no one knows where it was taken...who knows, maybe their wanted by the F.B.I.

This is so true . Part of my job is to find people who don't wish to be found-- or others who have been "misplaced". There are numerous "search engines" and other resources available to look for people .

I agree with you 100 percent. If I ran UHH that would not be an option..."In Hiding" At minimum Country or State
