The Nikon 55 300 mm lens for about $ 250.00
VR DX AF . What is your opinon of this lens.
FRO Know Photo made some harsh statements about
it. On the other hand there were some good reviews.
Your fed back would be apprecated

Thats a very good price in the right condition. Its not nearly as good a lens as the 28-300mm VR II model, plus its a DX lens so the elements are all smaller, but its a nice lens for a D3100 or D5100 body, especially when complementing the 18-55mm lens.

I have the AF-S DX 55-300 MM G VR and I love it, it consistently produces very sharp images with great bokeh at all distances and while handheld. It is definitely one of my favorite Nikon lenses and if you are looking at the same lens I just described, I feel certain you would really like it as well!

I like mine. That's a bit less than I paid. You can always get a better lens, if you want to spend more money.

That's what happens when you have a high performance computer.

I think many people place too much enphasis on hardware, test patterns, auto this, anti that and such. I'm sure many cheap cameras of today are technically superior to the stuff Ansel Adams used, but look at the results. Some people can get great photos with a Brownie while others produce lousy ones with mega dollar hardware. What's important is not the camera in front of the person, but the person behind the camera.

go to popphoto.com click on buyers guide and look for the lens. you will get the review and actual test results on the lensin question. No one comes close to popphotos labs for acurate testing.
