Thanks to all of you who helped me decide on which camera to get ALL of your opinions helped so for my dive into the DSLR world I have purchased the Referbished 7DMKII with the EF-S 18 -135 mm IS STM lens.
I have also Signed up for the Canon 101 class at my local camera store .
I still need to pickup a Wide-angle lens (low cost)
Now it's just waiting for FED X to show up on Tuesday at work

Congratulations, The EF-S 10 - 18 could be the answer to the wide angle...

Good luck

Norman, that's some pretty darned good choices!
Personally, I wouldn't worry about going wider until your actually frustrated with 18mm. Work on getting tighter, not wider!! There is always stitching.
Good luck.

Congratulations on your purchase. Keep in mind that the 7D Mark II is a rather complex camera. To get the best from it requires a significant amount of effort, especially if this is your first DSLR. Other than learning the exposure triangle and the myriad of features and functions this camera has to offer, there is a very complex and extensive Auto Focus system which is not covered very well in the manual. Canon has also provided a separate 60 page AF manual which is required reading if you want to know how the Auto Focus system works. The attached link is to the EOS 7D Mark II AF-Setting Guidebook homepage. The link to the downloadable PDF file is on the lower left of the page.

Thanks
I have already downloaded all I could find on the Canon web site and plan to have read them all at least once before I even put the battery in the camera. I also signed up for the 5wk Canon 101 course at my local camera store , and multiple books on the 7D mk2 in kindle. It was decided to jump straight to the 7d mk2 even tho there would be a steep learning curve because throwing hundreds of dollars into a lesser camera I would still be faced with GAS pains for the better camera (and my better half would really frown on the added expense if you know what I mean ) better to spend an extra 500 now than 1500 in a year from now that I could be buying Lenses with .

Norman,

Try one of these tutorials by Tony Northrup. He can be found at:

SDP.IO/Tutorials

I just purchased the Nikon D810 yesterday, watched his 1-hour tutorial on this camera and learned so, so much! It was EXCELLENT.

I then started watching his tutorial on the Canon 7D Mark II (I own that also) and it was another excellent tutorial. Check it out.

Congratulations!!!!!! Wide Angle? Get the new Canon 10-18mm. Most excellent lens very sharp fast and light.
Love mine. Guess what about as cheap as you can get. No not built like a tank but unless you are an abusive pro will last for a life time.

The EF-S 10-18mm IS STM lens alone is a very good reason to get the Canon, in spite of the delivery issues you've posted about elsewhere.

At under $300 for the 10-18mm, you simply will not find as good a wide angle zoom for so little money anywhere else.

For example, a quick search of what's available for Nikon shows the cheapest available for them is $150 more (Tokina and Sigma zooms in Nikon mount, $450). Most are $500 or more. The least expensive Nikkor in this category is the 10-24mm, currently on sale for $800 (normally $900). Another Nikkor, the 12-24mm f4G, is $1150.

And none of those other lenses have image stabilization, like the Canon 10-18mm does. It's also the most compact of all the wide angle zooms (it uses 67mm filters... most others use 77mm, a few require 82mm).

The EF-S 10-18mm IS STM is a screamingly good deal and, if you plan on using a wide angle but don't want to spend a lot for it, a strong argument for getting a Canon DSLR!

I love my 10-18 (on my 70D). The only thing I miss is overlap with my 18-135. I would have gone with a 10-24 except for the $300 difference. Just takes a little forethought about changing lenses.-

That is why I opted for the Sigma 10-20 instead
