The Anvik lawsuit against Nikon is over and Nikon has won. Anviks has has been dismissed with prejudice and all claims have been declared as false. Some people are just always looking for an easy way to make a buck.

Note that all related patents claimed by Anvik were determined invalid. This tells me they were either false claims and/or Nikon had shown prior art.

Good for Nikon.

Good for Nikon. Since they won, maybe it will keep all prices down

Nikon won the battle but I can only imagine at what cost. I hope their adversary was made to pay Nikons defense costs.

I think that'll only happen if Nikon counter-sues. And it may be that their adversary would simply dis-incorporate and fade into the woodwork - leaving nothing to pay any award.
.
If I had MY way - in ANY suit - the loser would pay for the winners court and legal costs (and that goes for both Civil AND legal suits - so if the district attorney loses the case - HE has to pay the defendants costs - PLUS an award for the defendants time and suffering!). If the loser HAD no assets - - then the losing LEGAL firm would pay all costs.
.
Talk about TORT reform - - THAT would solve the problem !!

That's almost how it is in Britain, and it works really well. Lawyers there are very good at weeding out frivolous lawsuits!
