MakuaMan Loc: Waianae, Hi.

OK, my turn to vent.I thought this was a forum that was International not just American.I just spent alot of time reading the thread,"I am sick of the direction of America"and now I am sick.!!!

Much of what was said seem's to me to be just insults in one direction or another because of difference of opinion. It does show however just how narrow minded and inconsiderate many people can be.Yes, we are all intitled to our own opinion and that is something I would never want taken away but resorting to insulting someone because there opinion differs from your's is rediculous and insensitive. If I were a [newbie or from another country],I think I would look elsewhere for my connection to other liked minded Photographers as that is who is on this site even though this is the "General Chit-Chat section"

I think if I were from another country I might be laughing my rear end off at some of the attitudes I see here.I also might just feel excluded because of all the U.S.A. postering.I myself think we should be more considerate of other's opinion's and of our International friend's.!BTW this extends to many other threads I have read and tried to contribute to.

I will now give some of my opinion's and see what happens.
I am happy to live in America but not very proud of many Americans as they seem spoiled and selfish in many instances.I will not single anyone out. This planet is here for all of us not just Americans as is this forum.

Being free I choose not to follow any one ideoligy but to create my own path.I have not found anyone in this world I would choose to follow and especially not any of the politicians as they say one thing to get elected but never follow through once they are.Case in point, our President said much about helping those who have chosen medical marijuana as opposed to other chemicals that are prescribed by doctors before he was elected but would not follow through for whatever reason. Most likely pressure from those chemical company's and all their lobbiest's.Don't they have enough money?.Some of us get sicker taking their chemicals, myself for one!.So now we just have to suffer.Besides all their pills are covered by Medicare but not marijuana so the cost makes it almost impossible for many to recieve any medication for our problems. If the people of certain states and hopefully all in the near future vote to make something legal then our government has an obligation to make it affordable to all.The people of Hawai'i know exactally what I'am saying as it is legal but you have to seek it out illeagally and at a price that is not affordable but to a certain few who are well off. Some Law!.Here in Ca. where I happen to be stuck for now it is available in stores but still not affordable to most and not covered by Medi-Cal either.Again Some law!.I still don't understand how something that has not killed a sole is such a threat to many.I guess they can't find a way to make a ton of cash off of it.SAD,SAD,SAD.People who are suffering everyday must suffer even more because someone cannot make a ton of money off of it like Alcahol which kills millions every year and is legal just about everywhere.I grew up with an alcaholic mother and spent many years entertaining many of them in nightclubs.I also just lost all my savings along with a good part of my new Nikon system because of the lies told to me by another bi-polar alcaholic in Hawai'i so I have no sympathy for those who wish to defend such a deadly way of life and then look down on people like myself for smoking Poca-lolo as medication.Again SAD,SAD,SAD.

I also am kind of sick of all this patriotic nonsense that we should blindly follow this Millitary crap or be singled out as unpatriotic and a threat to our way of life,Horse-you know what!.
If the politicians and the RICH had to send only their own family members off to war there would probably no more war's.Wouldn't that be wonderful.Don't get me wrong I support all of our fine young men and women just not those who put them in harm's way mostly for their own greed. If you want to fill prisons with someone why don't you start with all of them!!!.

Now that I have probably ticked off a few let's see what kind of reaction I get.Mahalo to most of you for putting up with my ranting and I hope I didn't offend too many of you.

ALOHA

You make some very good points. It's hard to respect a country who's people spew bigotry and hatred. Respect is earned by what is said and done. As for patriotism; there is more to patriotism than waving a flag or yelling "Hooray America". I used to get involved in those type of name calling "discussions", but I have stopped. It's the 21st century now, you would think that we would have gotten past the racism and religious bigotry that still exists today. And that is what people will take from this forum and who knows how many others.

Maybe I'll find what set you off. But as of now I haven't and to tell you the truth, I'm not going looking for it.

As a non-US participant, I certainly see a number of people whose views are blinkered and uninformed, but maybe we see more blinkered and uninformed Americans here simply because there are more Americans of all intellectual capacities here, the stupid and ignorant alongside the intelligent and knowledgeable. There are, after all, at least as many exceptionally intelligent and knowledgeable people here as exceptionally stupid and ignorant.

I would certainly agree, though, that it would be a good idea for EVERYONE, no matter where they are from, to reflect that their regional obsessions, party politics, and religious views may look rather odd (or sometimes downright silly) to those from different backgrounds, even among their own countrymen.

Cheers,

R.

After reading your post, I find myself feeling sorry for you. I think I got that from you.
In this country, Cadillacs are legal, but they thoughtlessly neglected to make them affordable to me. Maybe if I smooz the right politician they will subsidize one, just for me!
I wish you well.

I'm not so sure I see the point of such venting. I knew by reading the title that I wasn't interested in anything said in that thread.

I try to remind posters that this in the internet not America every time I see a post that says "This is America!!" Nope it's not, it's the World Wide Web, people from all over the world can pop in and read what is written and join in the conversations.

People in general have a narrow view of the world, they don't realize that just because they are sitting in "small town, USA" that the person they are communicating with on the web could be from "small town, Russia". It's a normal, the internet brings the world to your backyard, sometimes a reminder is needed that the American Way isn't the only way.

I may not agree with things that are said about America or about US politics or any religion. In fact, I may down right hate what is said, but I will allow everyone to have their opinion. The angry tend to speak louder than the content. If the content speak loudly we look at them as "preaching" and we don't like that either.

Also, loud speakers can be intelligent or of less educational opportunities, but they still have opinions and they still can shout them whenever they want.

Everyone also has the opportunity to tell said loud talkers that they are not of the same opinion. This is what free-thinking people can do. There is no right or wrong about this communication. It is just our ability to communicate with each other and to interact. I, for one, appreciate that we can do this.

It may not be the only way, but millions of immigrants seem to think it's the best way.

Aloha Mac,

At least you addressed one part of this thread and better than I did obviously and I appreciate your response and agree with what you said.

Have a great day.
