If you would use the "Search" function at the top of the page you would find a large number of discussions and opinions on this subject.
If your hand-eye coordination is such that sketching things comes easy, then a tablet using a stylus will enable you to make precise selections in Photoshop, which is the key to good performance in PS. Now the problem is with the more lower cost tablets is that the stylus tip is on the tablet but not on the computer screen. This places an extra dimension between hand and eye and is what frustrates some tablet users. If practice practice practice works for you, your Photoshop performance will take a leap.

IF Greenguy doesn't mind (& I mean that sincerely,) has anyone here tried out the iPad Pro for the same image processing applications who previously employed a Wacom-type tablet?
I realize the iPad Pro costs a lot more, but isn't it easier to use its pen "directly"
on the image than on a grey background?
On the other hand, I thought I read that the range of touch sensitivities using a Wacom pen/surface combination is superior to that of the iPad Pro and its pen. Does anyone know?

The two are not comparable at all.

I have and use Intous Pro Medium, and small for travel. I find them invaluable. Have not used a mouse for a few years now, the Intous has replaced it full time.

I have one. It's work surface is 5x7 inches. I use it for specific tasks, but not all the time.

Yes.
Medium size for home use. Smallest when on the road.
I agree. I use the Huion H610Pro with Capture One. You have to force yourself to use it a couple of times, but it is much easier to crop and dodge an burn images using adjustment layers. The Huion is mcc cheaper than the Wacom and is very large. I use it with an IMAC.
