Well focused, well exposed....exceptional example of sardonicography'
( yeah....made that last word up, but "sardonic" was what leapt to mind at first glance!)

Good eye, Dan

What are you doing making up words. Are you a member of Mensa, or something?

Nice to see graffiti with a pleasant message. Well seen. The download is a bit of a mess though. The EXIF data has been scrubbed so any determination of the reason is difficult.

Thanks for commenting Dave. Focus and exposure were compliments of a surprisingly fixable basket case Bell and Howell Auto 35/2.8, a rebadged Canonet 28 so quite a find.

..and for a moment there, wondered what small tinned fish had to... oh sard - onic, well that's different.

Wow, it sure is. Didn't check as it looked ok enlarged in PSE. It's a crop of a scanned 35mm bw neg. but usually they don't go all to pieces on download.

Hi, Don,
I figure, "What the Hell, every word there ever was was made up by somebody! Why not keep up a productive trend?"

And you can quote me on that!

Here's another "snardefik" I like that one...gotta come up with a meaning sometime...!

Did you have anything to do with inventing 'mentorship, or 'mentee'?

Nope. But since you wish to continue the theme, my attitude toward the word obtained by "verbification" of the noun mentor, should, to my mind, continue to hold on to some of the basic sense of what a mentor is..."a trusted advisor" ...certainly not a casual acquaintance. To be a mentor (IMO) connotes a purposeful and committed, responsible relationship between the mentor and him or her to whom he or she is a mentor. To my mind, "mentoring" can happen between ostensibly unexpected pairings of people, often, neither of whom have ever been instructed in "mentoring". I have been fortunate in having had a several mentors of inestimable significance in and to my life. I could not begin to explain here the characteristics of those incredibly important people in my life. I 've been also very fortunate in having experienced a larger number of incredibly gifted, broadly knowledgeable teachers and the differences between the student-teacher relationship , and that between a person and a valued, committed, trusted mentor is as that between good illumination by which to read, and the Sun at high noon. I am thus one whom you'll never find overusing the term "mentor" , even though I do, sometimes, fall into use of the nonce "verbified" version of the noun.

'nuff said.

edit...
No quite enough...
I should emphasize that beyond an "advisor" a mentor is a guide, and, by example, a stimulus to a constant imperative to betterment in all in life.
'Tain't a simple responsibility !

Glad you added "stimulus" Dave

...and, as for the meaning of "snardefic"

clearly it is an adjective, used mostly to describe something that exists solely on its winning style and having not a redeeming useful bone in its body...

..like this winning example of late 50's photographic whatever.

Sounds good to me! Use "snardefic" with ten different people each day, and urge them to do the same, and we'll have to see if "The Oxford Unabridged" will pick it up next year!

And thanks for being a good sport about this unintended bur none-the-less egregious high-jacking of your thread!

Mea culpable maxima est!

Not a bad concept. The only thing I noticed was that looking at the download version, there seemed to be a bit pixelated. Almost that it was enlarged just a bit past what the image dimensions were set.

The tonality is quite nice, the composition is adequate to portray the message, which not only the author, but you as well, wish to convey.

Thanks for the comments Bob. I'm contemplating a reshoot firstly earlier in the day to reduce the shadow on the "A", and with my more competent digital rig for better detail to show the collection of jetsam that accompanies this message.

Took many looks at this Dan without being able to put a handle on what I did not like. Bob in his wisdom explained it.
Great image and well worth a reshoot I reckon

Thanks Billy, it's a technical train wreck for sure. Took a wide shot on 35mm film, changed my mind and over cropped it. The K-S2 and I are starting to understand each other so all we need to do is to hike over there.
