We were on a small boat heading out to South Swayer Glacier, I will post those later, when I saw this float plane taxiing towrd us to take off. I managed to get the whole sequence. It was really cool to see this up close as he took off about 25 yards on our staboard side. No editing other than cropping. ISO 200,WB cloudy with UV and CPL, my standard config for sunlight photography.

I hope you enjoy these!!

This sequence was taken in Ketchikan Harbor this past July. This harbor is a very active harbor for both aircraft and boats as the cruise ships dock there and take the passengers off to the almost endless variety of excursions. Just a most beautiful place. The best vacation we ever took. We took almost 3K photos on this vacation and love every one of them. We hope you like this sequence. We will post more at a later date!

Great sequence of photos.

Left = Port
Right = Starboard

He is/was on your port side.

That's funny-I was on the Diamond Princess last July too. Fantastic trip with great weather.

I think I believe the OP - - it all depends on which way the boat he was on was going !! If the bow was to his left - then the plane was off the starboard side of the boat he was on - as indicated.
Yes - the plane WAS off the port side of the Diamond Princess - however the OP was not referring to THAT ship - rather he was referring to the ship he was ON.
.
Regardless - nice series.

I was on the fantail of a boat going in the same direction as the float plane so the float plane was on my starboard side.

Correct!! I was referring to the boat I was on, which was going in the same direction as the float plane!
