Price Drop - Tokina 16-28mm f/2.8 for Canon

This lens is in excellent "like new" condition. It is a fast very sharp ultra wide for full frame cameras. The reason I am selling the lens is that I had purchased it for astro photography but have decided to replace it with the Sigma 20mm prime lens.

The quality of images this lens produces are comparable to the Canon 16-35 f/4 IS. It actually out resolves the Canon 16-35 f/2.8 mk II significantly according to DXOMark scores, 22M-pix Tokina - 18M-pix Canon 16-35 f/2.8 mk II.

The price is $400 which includes shipping to the lower 48 states.

Just curious, but what's to be gained with the sigma 20mm? I have the Tokina 16-28 and it's sharpest 18-24; 20 being optimum. At 2.8 it's tack sharp and any softness along with all lens/body corrections are automatically applied with the corresponding module in Dx0 Optics Pro 10.

Yes, I know the Tokina is excellent, better in my opinion than its new Canon counterpart at a much more reasonable price. I really wanted to get the Sigma to shoot the milkyway this summer, maybe I am making a mistake I don't know maybe f/2.8 is plenty fast enough. Reviews I have read on the Sigma claim it is tak sharp in the center at f/1.4 while collecting 4X the light of the Tokina. I have another ultra wide zoom that is as sharp as the Tokina, but it is slower at f/4. The Sigma is expensive so I had to sell something in order to justify the addition of that lens

I dropped the price to $400, I have already purchased a replacement lens for the type of photography I want to do.

I also added DXO comparison link to the original post so those interested can see how this lens compares to the Canon 16-35 f/2.8 mk II where the Tokina out resolves it by a long shot and out scores it overall.

Last chance on this lens before it goes onto Craigslist or ebay. It is a really wonderful lens the only reason I am selling it is that I decided to go with a Canon 16-35 f/4L IS for general and landscape photography and a Samyang 14mm for Astro photography.

Yes, Tommy, it is the lens that I was replacing when I bought your 16-35, both lenses have about the same image quality and both have their advantages, the Canon takes filters, the Tokina does not, but the Tokina is faster and every bit as good if not better image quality as the Canon f/2.8 II. The reason I made the switch was to be able to use filters.
