It is amazing how a dog knows how to play with a young child. I had a yellow lab once and he just knew, instinctively, that he had to be easy with a small child, he wouldn't push as hard, run as fast or tug at a pull toy as hard with small children. It was actually kind of amazing to watch.

Thanks for sharing my friend,

Rich

Memories of my English Setter "Bobby", lying on the floor of the family Station wagon and the 4 kids with their feet on him. He was a wonderful floor mat and always enjoyed the ride. The dog and the kids were inseparable!

Then get a dog if possible and have current memories, we have three little dogs and they are wonderful for us.

You are spot on my mate, dogs, if brought up correctly rom pups will be like their owners. So I can just imagine your yellow labrador was gentle and kind as you and your wife are are. Always a pleasure to see your name on my stuff. Cheers Rich.

Have a dog now, too, just no youngsters underfoot. The posting reminded me of the summer I kept my nieces. The first day they were terrified of my big doberwomen (89 lb red doberman pinscher). By day three, one of the girls was riding on her back and they both were playing dress-up with Chili-dog and trying to teach her new tricks (most of which she already knew, but I didn't tell my nieces).

I knew a male dog that treated newborn kittens like his own, gently picking them up and putting them back in their bed.
Dogs are amazing.
