Nothing but excellent Peter. Amazing impact, the boats are about to float through my screen. Compositionally spot on, the diagonal of the left boat draws the eye right into the photo for a complete look around. Technically suburb, detail is amazing and the contrast is makes the scene feel alive.

Love the perspective, love the bumps of mountains in distance and the great textures and details in foreground. Love the sparkling water close up - can almost touch it!

Peter, exactly what Frank said, word-for-word. I've seen this picture before, maybe in Critique Section. I remember it very well since it is so superb. If you sell your pictures this one should be a best-seller, and by the way this is a PERFECT picture for black-and-white. No color needed, color might even distract.

Not much to add from the other posts. This shot is amazing. Sharp throughout and a very strong composition.

Chuck is right I did post a version of this once before but this one is a complete rework and hopefully much better. It does the ego good to hear words like perfect but perfect it ain't. I am happy with the composition and the conversion generally but the haloing across the mountains is quite strong and needed more work. So I have done said work and I am at the stage where I think I may have got the best out of it that I could. Many thanks for your kind words.

This is the final version with the halos pulled back.

Great photo...I like it! A little color in the boats may have made this a bit more interesting, but that's just me. I like screwing around with photos.

One will rarely come across a post as good as this, its astounding my friend and at times you are too critical of yourself. The rest of it carried the tiniest haloing and Im not sure anyone but you would have noticed it.
It got past Frank and that boy can be picky about pixels!!
Chill my friend it probably aint perfect but find one that's better. Perfect does not exist. Yea I know one has to try.

I'll lean with Mr. Spad on this one Peter. With all the cloud look in the back ground it was not evident....not to confuse you but I think I like the darker hilltops of the first rendition.

Hi, Peter,
Composition ally superb with the lines of perspective of the piling so, and the two boats meeting at the identical disappearing point! whether planned positioning or a gift of the Cosmos, it's flat-out fantastic!

Only you, given your personal esthetic, can tell us if you accomplished the tonal balance we see. It's lovely for that sort of day, I would, however, love to try a tad more mid-tone contrast ("Clarity"), but would only were it mine to process.

A beautiful image as is!

Seems everyone before me basically took the words out of my mouth. I almost feel if I get any closer to the picture I will be getting my feet wet. :)

Hi, Peter, br Composition ally superb with the lin... (show quote)

A touch more midtone contrast to bring out the details in the somewhat grey water area behind the boats. Tried it, loved it, saved it, thanks Dave.

As for the the composition, well the Cosmos and I share the credit. Plus the insurance of taking loads of shots from different angles always improves the chances of a finding good one.

Catch you soon.

Peter
