Per http://coffeetea.about.com/od/historyculture/f/What-Is-A-Chai-Wallah.htm
"The tea term chai wallah refers to a maker and seller of masala chai (tea)."

What an intense expression! He is well dressed. A successful, independent businessman, I presume.

Is it good, Graham? You Englishmen are the tea experts, right? :-D Love the shot. I think he's posing for you. I like that. It tells a bit about his personality.

Chai is good Sandra. Don't confuse it with the chai latte that you can buy in some outlets in the US and over here, it bears no resemblance. Chia in India is made by boiling together milk and tea with added spices, cardamom, ginger and others plus copious amounts of sugar. It is extremely sweet, often they will add condensed milk which makes it even more sweet.

The posing was a continual problem. We were in areas where westerners weren't a common sight so with a large camera I stood out like a sore thumb, together with that the Indians just want to pose. They think they are being co-operative by posing. I guess it's there natural generous nature showing through.

I don't think the posing is a problem at all. I think it is very special the way these people look at you when you are photographing them. It's part of who they are. It's intriguing. I don't do latte, Graham, so I have no idea what you are talking about. I buy plain old coffee. I usually grind my own beans with a burr grinder and press my own coffee except when I'm camping. I'm in too much of a hurry in the morning so I stop at a Holiday station to fill my cup or my thermos the night before. :-)

I don't roast my own beans ... yet ...
