Without posting an example it is hard to say, BUT probably it is due to e-mailing a reduced resolution image to save space.

The actual process of e-mailing does not cause issues with photographs, but e-mailing an image in a smaller resolution will surely degrade the look of an image.

Under what conditions do they look fuzzy? On screen? When printed?
Are you letting your e-mail program re-size the photos when you send them? Most do unless you specifically send them at full size. Sending them as an attachment prevents that. Re-sizing dramatically lowers the quality of the file most times.

Most text messaging apps seem to automatically resize an image. Many email servers have file limitations, but I do not know of any that auto resize. If you are attaching it to an email and you don't get a warning, it should be ok on the other end.

Check the file size of the photos you have sent and compare it to the original.

If the sender merely right clicks on a photo and sends it to a mail recipient the e-mail program will downsize it. In Windows, anyway. I just checked and it wanted to downsize an 8.57 mb photo to 280 kb. It does bring up a screen, but if the OP is like a lot of people and just clicks OK it will go out at the reduced size. I always send photos as an attachment so that there is no attempt at re-sizing.

Take LFingar's advice. The very best way to email a photo is to add it as an attachment. And it is best to keep the attachment at 8 megabites or less since there are some email servers that won't do emails above 10 megabites.

I always attach as well. In fact, now, I usually dropbox.

Agree ! The OP should always email a full size photo as an attachment, that is unless the OP, purposely, wants to downsize it !

Never noticed that. Perhaps I should try emailing photo attachments to myself? I usually email as attachments with a limit of 25MB per email, 150ppi < 5MB JPGs. As far as I know my email service does nothing to the photos but limit the total size of the email+attachment. Fuzzy could be from going below 72ppi with your files (JPGs). But then one must know Out Of Focus from Blurred. "Fuzzy" is a fuzzy term.

I've had problems sending emails if I go over 12mb in one email.

If sending and receiving large e-mails is a problem then your e-mail server probably has a size limit. You could try setting up a free e-mail acct with Google's g-mail, or others like it. I've had no file size issues with my g-mail acct.
