your welcome-- took this with my E-M10 with macro lens and used topaz Impressions on it Sure beats lugging around a FF DSLR with macros lens--here I have to make do without a tripod by the way I am a 77 year old young lady

I don't think I can say this often enough when it comes to shooting BIF or sports. The Sony mirrorless cameras are incredibly fast and Sony claims that the new A6100 has the fastest auto-focusing system available on any camera, anywhere.

Not hard... I did it for decades. You need a Lloyd Bulk Film Loader and reusable film cartridges (Kalt), all available at B&H, along with bulk film. Masking tape is used to secure the film to the spool in the cartridge.

Plenty of videos on YouTube show you how to do it.

If you want to consume large quantities of the addictive film drug, this is the way to do it.

Thanks for info burkphoto

I've looked at that Olympus 300mm, but I'm nit share the speed difference between that and the 75-300mm is worth the cost.
I'l check out that Leica 100-400mm, thanks for the tip.

it is from the images and reviews that Ive read so far. You can add the ec-14 to the 300, but not the 75-300. At 300 on the 75-300, the word is that it's a tad soft.

You're on the right track with the E-M1 and the 75/300!

I rolled in complete darkness, so I could keep shooting till it wouldn't advance any more.

Believe me I'm doing a lot of research---so much that my brain is starting to vibrate.
Right now the Olympus OM-D E-M1 with the 75-300mm lens is at the top of my list, but I'm just starting on Panasonic, so who knows where I'll wind up.

If you're looking at the Panasonic pro zooms, they are the 7-14mm f/4 (old, due for a refresh and has no weather sealing), the 12-35mm f/2.8 and 35-100mm f/2.8 (both excellent, weather-sealed) and the new Panasonic Leica DG Vario-Elmar 100-400mm F4-6.3 zoom (excellent, weather-sealed, and a great value for the money, compared with any 200-800mm full frame zoom you can name).

When the Leica 100-400 becomes available, I think Oly may drop the price on their 75-300. AVOID the Panny 100-300, which is mediocre unless used at f/6.3 or so, and below 280mm.

GX-8 has IBIS for dual IS. GH4 does not. MAYBE the GH5 (coming later this year, if rumors are true) will have IBIS. But if that camera is as serious or more serious about video as the GH4, IBIS may not be there, due to heat sinking issues.

If you shoot raw, you get about the same results from Oly or Panny. JPEG "looks" are different, out of the camera, using default settings, but you can tweak the Panny for more "pop" if that's desirable. The Oly JPEGs are snappy, while Panny JPEGs are more natural/true to life. Both have their proponents.

I don't really care for the Oly menu structures and control placements. The GH4 is very intuitive to use. It also fits my hands better... But your mileage may vary! TRY before you buy. Ergonomics matter... One of the reasons I chose Canon digital over Nikon for many years, after decades of using Nikon film SLRs.

I could almost always get 38 frames from a 36-exposure roll by loading cassettes in the dark, loading the camera carefully, and advancing to the jam.

You can load up to about 42 frames of some films, but if you use stainless steel Nikor type processing reels, as I did, six frames won't fit on the reel, and will get scratched.

Nice flower! You're inspiring. I hope I'm still able to do that sort of quality work when I'm 17 years older.

I just did a side by side comparison between the OM-D E M-1 and the GH-4 and they seem pretty similar. I'll do a lens comparison next.

I've never shot video and don't have any interest in doing so. Maybe I will someday, but not right now.

Then personally I'd skip the GH4.

You can aways make the EM1 larger by adding the HLD-7...or, my preference, the RSS BOEM-1 camera plate.

Absolutely true. Those are key differences.

Daniel Cox is really a fan of the 100-400 on the GX8, because of the *dual* IS that is really advantageous when you're at the long end of the zoom.

He's also a huge fan of the Oly 40-150 f/2.8 with 1.4x teleconverter, also on the GX8, even without dual IS (just IBIS).

I really hope Panny is able to do IBIS AND video in the GH5... I would LOVE to see Olympus and Panasonic both offering dual IS and lenses to support it across brands.

Here's an interesting video comparing the top 4 mirrorless camera's auto-focusing systems. I forget about the Panasonic GH4 too often. I considered it a one point but it was more expensive than the Sony A6000 and less popular. However the difference in popularity is probably entirely based on the difference in price because it is clearly an incredible camera and arguably the best in the mirrorless category.
