I recieved many great tips on this site. Two standouts for me are: 1. Place a couple Silica packets that come from other purchases in your camera bag to absorb moisture. 2. Make sure to turn your circular polarized filter to adjust the color and glare.

When looking through your viewfinder: REALLY LOOK! Don't just line it up and pull the trigger. Look side to side, up to down, notice what's there and what's NOT there. If you can't see well through your viewfinder use "live-view", if you can't do that, think about getting a different camera.
"Push and Pray" might work on a slot machine, but not in photography!
Great question Fran!

In the words of Robert Capa: "If your photos are not good enough, you're not close enough."

Decide what the subject of your photo will be and get in close to it... become involved with it.

They are all good tips, but the number one should be RTMF (read the manual first!) :-)

1. Always shoot in raw if your equipment supports and
2. Use a tripod for those shots requiring it

Danilo, I live in Las Vegas, too. Please tell me what slot machines pay with "Push and Pray"!
I've been searching and haven't found them!

I think this is defined as "composition through boader patrol" in other words - What do you want in the photo and what you don't.

OK - one I use a lot - copy and print some of the pages of your manuel of things that give you the most trouble remembering and keep them in you camera bag - or buy a second one to keep with you - now this is important to me as I am at the age where I do forget or confuse a lot of stuff. other than that - practice practice practice.
