When I saw this I thought "This is the sort of thing that Jim Hill would want to photograph". My usual thing is nice picturesque landscapes, but where would we be if we never tried our hand at something new from time to time.

Background info - it's part of an unused section of an old hospital (Glen O'Dee). Either they're waiting for the finances to knock it down, or they're hoping that if they leave it long enough, nature and gravity will do the job for them.

You've made good study of Mr. Hills work R.G., b/w might have made it indistinguishable from one of his.

This is fascinating, R.G.. I adore your composition, the tight walls with that spiral staircase, the level of neglect and decay. Terrific "JH" eye!

Superb RG! Brings me right into the scene. Felt like a kid
ready to creep over, climb the stairs and explore. GR

Linda and Frank, thanks for the comments. So what's the next step? Climbing in and out of skips?

Thank you GR. Funny you should say that - they have had trouble with kids breaking in and exploring at night. The block and mesh fence doesn't exactly provide an insurmountable obstacle.

Terrific picture!  I have a German Flickr friend who used to specialize in urban decay. She was very good, and working entirely with a compact. She would daringly enter some of these old wrecks and work inside amid the ruin. She stopped a few years ago. I think she married and maybe her husband does not want her risking life and limb wandering in the rubble and maybe falling through a floor.

Thanks for commenting, Chuck. That's a point worth remembering. Old buildings are usually not safe. I took this through a mesh fence, so no heroics involved.

Thank you sundar. I hadn't seen it as inviting, but you're not the first to make that comment :) .

Nicely done. I'd love to come across a place like that to shoot.

Thank you Erik. You'd love the UK - we have dilapidated buildings all over the place (some of them still in use lol).
