Does anybody had experience with sigma lenses? which is best for wedding photography 24-80 f 2.8 or 17-70 .8 or 17-70 2.8-4 Cheers Dave
Dave, if those are my only choices I'd go with 24-80 2.8 but personally, I'd prefer a longer lens.
I don't have any Sigma lenses but I do love my Tamron 28-75mm 2.8.

I thought he was Head of Propaganda.
I also have the Tamron 28-75 -- 2.8 --use on Canon 30D and 50D --Great lens!
I have shot a few weddings using Sigma lenses. I use a Sigma 17-50 F2.8 and a Sigma 70-200 F2.8 with outstanding results. My only regret is that I bought the 70-200 before they added image stabilization on them. To tell you the truth the 70-200 is my workhorse but the 17-50 is also irreplaceable. My only complaint is that the 70-200 is a brick! Very heavy.
Prior to my first wedding shoot I purchased the 17-70 2.8-4.0,OS. Love the versatility and its my main walkaround lens. My other Sigma's include the 10-20 superwide and recently bought a used (E+)70-200 2.8(non os)from Adorama and love that one too. Just can't afford Nikon glass all the time but do have a few of their 1.8's (35&50). I've heard some of the old Sigma's had some compatability issues with Nikon but I believe that's been resolved. Can't say I lust for anything else right now except maybe a 1.4tc. I'm a happy Sigma camper. Fyi, I shoot w/D200's.

Sounds like a loaded question that should bring some interesting reply's.
I use the Sigma 17 - 70 as the main lens on my backup camera; it won't work on my full frame. It's a great lens!
I've had the 17-70 f2.8 for a bit over a year. It's my "go-to" lens...I keep it on my camera 95 % of the time. Not the sharpest knife in the drawer, but it's fast and I like it.
