Statue of the legendary Robert Morris, at the Independence National Historical Park in Philadelphia. Not your typical tourist snapshot of this monument, that's for sure. But I think far more interesting.

One of the greatest of the Founding Fathers of our Nation...of whom, I must admit, that I was ignorant until seeing his statue in Philadelphia and spending time in the library looking him up (...up-looking him...???) .
Yes...a very different view of the statue honoring the man!

I have never seen his ankle look so good fella! Joking apart a really different and interesting angle. A man who can think out of the box is OK by me. The foliage on the top right and between his cane and coat are a little distracting and take something away from an excellent shot.
But very well done indeed

I guess I didn't hit send on my first reply 2c4. For me it's a bit tight at the top and the Hotel needs to go, other than that I like the image a lot.

Thank you!

I was ignorant about Robert Morris, too - when I worked downtown, I used to sit next to this statue during my lunch breaks but never bothered to find out who he was until years later.

Good to hear from you. Yeah, I should dodge out the foliage a bit more.

Thank you, Frank. I absolutely agree. It wasn't until later that I realized how tight it was at the top; generally I prefer some space between subject and image edge. I have plans to redo the shot on my next visit. And, as you pointed out, the building in the lower left corner isn't helping the image at all, especially as it reveals just how much I had to tilt the shot to get the statue appear upright. The figure is actually posed leaning sideways-forward, holding out a rolled-up draft of the Constitution. But shooting from behind in that manner looked terribly awkward.

Yeah there are a couple of technical things, cropped too tight at the top, the hotel in the trees and a few stray branches at the top but it is pic with a lot of impact. A really interesting and different angle. The best compliment I can give yu is that I will steal the idea. A good pic.

And a great compliment it is. I think ultimately it's all about sharing creative ideas. If my image has encouraged you to further explore unusual perspectives, then I consider it somewhat of a success, despite the imperfections!
