I'm not really a pro but I have been paid to do a couple gigs. My background was in TV production for 26 years. I have run both studio and field cameras, directed some shows, non linear (computer) editing, run audio and video boards. My technical and production background has come in handy with photography and post processing.

I don't consider myself an expert or an authority on anything. I may know a lot about some things, but will never know everything. If I thought I knew everything, then I still have a lot to learn.

That's why I'm here. I want to learn as much as I can. I also like to hear your opinions. It's up to each us to decide if we agree with an opinion or not. It's okay to agree or disagree and explain why. It's also up to us to know the difference between fact and opinion.

Even though I'm not an expert, I like to share my thoughts and experience with you. Just because I'm not an authority or pro, doesn't mean I'm blowing a bunch of smoke. I'm just telling you what I have experienced. If I'm wrong about something, please correct me. If you disagree with me, that's fine. Tell me why. It might change my point of view and learn something new.

If someone attacks me or has condescending tone, I will not respond. I'm not here to get into flame wars. Hopefully, I have the right attitude and can set the tone for this forum or any other forum.

It shows that you joined this forum in 2014 but by the tone of this post it seems you have just recently joined.

I (we) appreciate your input when you can add some expertise or just want to comment. I think you've got the right attitude. Just take some on here with a grain of salt, some are much saltier than others. Also, realize that sometimes folks are just having a bad day.

I've been on here a couple of years, read it every day and learn something new almost every day. I love it that some people are so knowledgeable and take the time to give back to others of us that are not.

So many people on here I've come to think of as friends & I've never even met them.

So, to all of you who have ever commented or given advice on the Hog, I THANK YOU!

I agree with you but there is some here that seem to have a problem with some one they do not agree with. We all have opinions and even if we disagree we should respect your right to express your self. Especially in the attic forum the name calling and innuendos and name calling is not in good taste for this or any other forum. Reminds me of one of the presidential candidate. When agree to disagree maybe we can come to common consensus.

Post enough on here and you will hear from a wide variety of individuals. Most will try to be helpful and friendly and not afraid of discussing opposing ideas like adults. Some will launch childish tirades against you if you dare post anything they disagree with. Shouldn't take you too long to figure out which ones to ignore.

Skin, LoL, you sound like your defending yourself!! From what?! Why do you feel a need to explain yourself, as most here will never cross paths and it's a double blind system anyway unless you choose to not make it so.
If you have expertise to add, by all means, just add it.
Most of what is asked here has nothing to do with expertise or facts anyway. I guess some are just trying to pass the time of day and needing company. Maybe they don't have any other friends..., other than virtual!! That's cool too.
Many have gone their whole lives(for most here, that's been a while) avoiding confrontation, the "yes" guys, when the going gets not the way they like it, they turn and run. Not how I'd like to be remembered anyway!
But to each his own.
I usually respond for the moment, but later on, never remember about what or with whom, since it's never been personal anyway.
I'll be stern today but comfort you tomorrow!!
I guess if you haven't been threatened to be banned from the Hog, just keep on doing what your doing.
For all of us our adrenaline levels are different. And if you've never been threatened to be banned, well, your probably not really living anyway!!

Here is my .02 . Some here are seasoned pros and you can take their advice as gospel. Some are not (ME) but have decades of experience, sometimes we actually make sense. (Notice I said sometimes). I learn things every day. I like to think that I am a better photographer as a result of things I have learned here.

OK, SS. Put 'em up! We're gonna go toe to toe. Let's see what you have in that keyboard. :-) I've never had a confrontation here, so I have nothing to defend. I was only making an observation. I gave my background to show even though I'm a techie and have production value, I still can learn more. Now I'm sounding like I'm defending myself. :-)

Generally speaking, if you treat others on UHH with respect you will get the same in return. There are some, as you have noted, that can never be wrong, and they will launch a fusillade of insults at the barest perception of disagreement or the slightest provocation. Just ignore them - their entire lives center on doing this.

Yes. I've seen that here and other forums. I've kind of figured out who's who and who's not. For the most part this forum is pretty tame. I've seen a lot worse.

Hey, I haven't been toe-to-toe in as couple of days..., but hey, THAT guy is still lying there and I'm still HERE!! LoL
I'm not much of a techie, so that's mostly what I learn here. My strength is mostly as a real-world photographer, so that's where I mostly chime in, at least that's when I'm not ribbing someone and just being a general PITA!!!
