Since I shoot in RAW they require the full processing and export as a jpeg.

Really depends on you first then on the final product...

If a 'regular print' there is very little to do other than make your you will be using the printer profile.

If a screen you might want to do the color separation yourself. (I have never done it but the few folks I know who did prefer to do the separation themselves).

That depends on your goal.

You can shoot a jpg, upload it to a service and choose your print options without any post processing at all.

Or the opposite, spend a LOT of time post processing before sending the file.

Post processing and outsourcing printing are really separate issues.

This may or may not address your question: for the local "mass produced" printing places I use (including Costco), I discovered I need to lighten the image for print more than looks good on screen + one place has printers that seem to be skewed to saturated yellows, so I always de-saturate a bit for them. More expensive or custom print places probably don't have that issue.

Not trying to be a smartass, but as much as you need to in order to get the results you are looking for. And that doesn't change if you are printing yourself or sending it out - unless the lab offers retouching and post processing.

If your photograph is acceptable to you, no PP should be needed.
The most useful edits could be "Cropping", "Levelling", Removing unwanted objects and "Red Eye" otherwise you could send them off for printing.

For every photographer and every photo the answer is different.

Reminds me of the question.....How deep is the ocean... Depends where you are.
Post processing, think most readers are saying its' what you want from your pictures. I shoot in RAW and adjust and convert to JPEG. Some shots are almost perfect and others need the little nudge to polish it up. If you have taken great lengths to find that right shot, another small bit of effort or even pride in your work is worth it.

I do all the processing myself in order to get the final picture exactly as I want and then send the JPGs to a professional printer formatted to their requirements. Then what I get back is exactly what I sent without any processing at all by the printer.

How much processing depends on what you want. archival records of a scene would require basic processing of the RAW file where others may want to remove anything that does not add to the scene and others again may do a lot of processing in order to make a work of art.

a famous photographer once said "postprocessing does not convert a bad photo to a good one but it converts a good photo to a better one".one can not over do with postprocessing and if you do that, the final image will not look realistic.but the new options in some of the softwares like HDR has revolutionized the field of photography, joseph
