Anyone with Olympus OM-D E-5 Mark II experience to share? Compared to Sony, Olympus seems to have their act together when it comes to glass choices. Sensor size is a concern when enlarging cropped images but the five-axis IS system and the 40mp high res option is attractive. Olympus OM-D E-1 Mark II rumors?

It is a very good camera, for general purpose photography, I have two of them.

Not so good when tracking high speed action (shooting motor racing trackside) and if you have the dioptre adjusted to the maximum and direct sunlight hits the EVF eyepiece you may get green "splotches" in the viewfinder. The camera doesn't need to be turned on. It has happened to one of my bodies.

I have never used to 40MP option.
The 12-40 f2.8 and 40-150 f2.8 lenses are great as is the iS.

How large will you be printing? You'd be amazed what a 16mpx can achieve. My best guess is that the em1ii won't be released until next year.

Typically 13x19 prints will do it. But I've been using a FF Canon 6D for years. Getting old sucks.

You'll have no issues, even with cropping (but keep in mind the sensor is 2x your effective FF length), so you may not need to crop as much.

I have 30 x 40's, 20 x 30's, and 24 x 36's hanging on my office wall.

I had printed up to 26x30 without an issue. My Printing people are very strict in what they print, so if it weren't good, they wouldn't print it. So, yeah you will be fine, and the camera is excellent. Peace, jro

Micro Four-Thirds (m43) is a great camera format. Don't forget that both Olympus and Panasonic LUMIX cameras share this lens mount, so there are over 80 lenses out there that fit them. Both Panny and Oly make pro lenses.

With adapters and MetaBones SpeedBoosters and "focal length reducers" from other companies, you can fit lots of dSLR lenses on m43 bodies. Canon EF-L glass works best, because some adapters retain their automation.

Whether L or not, ONLY the full frame (EF, not EF-S) glass works with MetaBones SpeedBoosters. See MetaBones' web site. They do a great job of adapting Canon lenses to Sony and Olympus and Panasonic bodies. They also adapt other lenses to other bodies, but with more loss of features such as auto diaphragm, autofocus, etc.

Unfortunately, SpeedBoosters are not cheap. They use precision optics to reduce the magnification by 0.71x or 0.64x, gaining one stop or one and one third stop of effective exposure in the process. They do that by shrinking the size of the image circle projected by the full frame lens onto the smaller sensor. This IMPROVES image quality (sharpness, as measured by MTF curves). It is sort of like a tele-converter IN REVERSE.

Lenses? Take your pick, and this list is getting old:

http://hazeghi.org/mft-lenses.html

Canon L lenses over-rated, and why would one buy a light small camera and hang monster glass on front of it? I thought the same thing when Canon debuted the SL1.

The 40Mp sensor shift multishot high resolution feature has some shutter speed limitations because of the need to shoot-shift-shoot-shift and so on. Appears mostly for static shots. Would like to see the improved sensor shift hi resolution on the PEN F, along with the new 20Mp sensor.

Been shooting 4/3 since the 2003 with the E-1 Professional. Been shooting Olympus since 1972 with the OM series.

Have been printing 13x19 routinely, with good results, on my Epson R2200 Pigment Ink printer. I don't crop much, preferring to get the right shot in the camera with good framing technique.

Robin Wong (Olympus employee in Malaysia) has a wonderful blog, and has done excellent review on the EM5 MkII and the 40/65 MP sensor shift feature. About three great reviews on the EM5 II. He has also already done a review on the new PEN F.

Olympus in my estimation the most creative camera company still on the planet. I even prefer their superiority in medical optics.

I require that my colonoscopies be done with an Olympus Colonoscope. Last one a year ago, and only two small benign polyps. Image sharp and clear.

There are many "switchers" and other "try-ers" of m43. Lots of video shooters bought Canon 5D Mark II and III bodies and really expensive Canon L glass to record video.

It's now a very popular thing to mount, say, a Canon f/1.8 85mm prime on a MetaBones SpeedBooster and get the effective field of view of a 110mm f/0.95 short telephoto! It's a look that is good for portraits and video.

Using a 70-200 f/2.8 zoom on a MetaBones SpeedBooster is another common practice. It has a tripod socket, so a GH4 is balanced with it...
