would it be an advantage to trade a d750 for a d810, to keep both, or to keep the d750 and forget the d810. shoot mostly wildlife and landscape.

If the 24mp D750 meets your Landscape needs, the D810 wouldn't be a big deal. On the other hand, and for less money, keeping the D750 for Landscape and getting a D500 for wildlife could make a world of difference, just for its speed.

Just a thought.

With the exceptions of faster continuous shooting, 2 pre-set user settings, and the hinged flipping LCD screen, I think the 810 surpassed the 750 in most other aspects. I can't say I have first-hand knowledge of the 810 though.

Are you talking straight-up trade?

I have a D750, do not have a D810.

It's an easy choice for landscape; the D810 has more resolution. For wildlife, it's less clear. You can get improved frame rate on the D810 by shooting in DX mode and 12-bit RAW. But it's more difficult to keep birds in the frame because the DX crop is not clearly delineated. If you can live with that, then go with the D810.

You can tell if you would have problems by shooting the D750 in crop mode and see how you like it.

Two different missions. I'd keep the D750 for landscape and get a D500 for wildlife. My reasons include lighter weight and tilt screen plus 24MP is more than enough if not cropping. I'm hoping the D500 proves to have better high ISO performance than D5300/7200.

I'm a generation behind that with a D800 for landscape and D5300 for wildlife. If I need to replace the D800 it will become a D750. I'll go on the D500 when refurbs are available.

Edit: Oh, I see that supports the first feedback.

Check out custom settings. You can gray out all but the DX area in the viewfinder. It gets done strangely: shutting off the focus point indicator.

I find the D750 a good all around choice in general. Save the money on owning both and buy a good piece of glass for whichever you want to due ie: wildlife or landscape.

I never considered the D800 series, but I love the D750.

I have the D810 and the 36 mp is wonderful. I often find the image I want within the image and crop. I then enlarge without any issues. I could not do that with the 24 mp 750... The D810 is just a better camera without listing all the differences addressing all the particulars specific to image quality. I am not really interested in wifi or video or the differences in fps which are sufficient for most wildlife which is more of a lens combination issue. BUT if you can wait!!! There is a 45 mp D850 out in August of this year.

Last I knew this was still in the rumor stage. Got anything to back that up?

There are more and more videos on what features it has but search google to see what what is current. Nikon must have an answer to Sony and Canon's newest offerings.
