Is there any software that will correct out of focus pictures?

An out of focus picture isn't worth the time or the effort to fix... my only cavat to this would be if it is the only known picture of a loved one who has pasted on.
Welcome to UHH. If it where only that simple, I would be in Hog's Heaven. LOL

if the focus is soft, you can't fix it but through the use of editingfilters you can change it to watercolors or other special effects where the focus isn't as important.

The rumor mill has spawned some talk that programs are looking into this technology to add in the future. As of yet there isn't really anything though.
That feature was supposed to be in photoshop cs6 but they probably won't add it until the mid year upgrade.

You'll find all sorts of software that will make a face or license that looks like a blob crystal clear and sharp as a tack. Just watch any TV show about any CSI or federal agency.
Other than those, you'll have to depend on Unsharp Masking and devine intervention.

Looks like you are getting the same answers you got last week with the same question.
You would be asking a computer to guess what detail belongs in the unfocused picture to replace the blur. You would get a pretty ugly picture if you could do it.

Has anyone tried this? It looks amazing on their web site. Too good to be true?
I have an older Sigma lens that is notorious for soft focus. I would love to go back and see if I can salvage some old photos of my late Father-in-law. (the one who mentored me and got me into photography in the first place.

Most programs have a definition and sharpness enhansment to provide a little improvement. The final product will help a little but will not fix the out of focus. It may just make it a photo you might want to keep for record purposes because you have nothing else.

argh.. I didn't catch it.
If you are having the issue over and over again, it's time to dig out the manual and learn how to use the camera.

Yes I have it and it is useful for "selectively" sharpening "some" images. I have used it to correct where I have slightly missed the focus on long telephoto shots a tiny bit. Although I have never been able to take a clearly out of focus image and make it tack sharp. Like the others have said only CSI and Abbey at NCIS have that software
:-D
