Here's a colorful alley in Turkey which I managed to over-expose. Have you got the skills to save and improve the image? The .jpg has not been processed other than made into the current file with Lightzone. A RAW file is attached if you prefer to work with the original RAW file.
Have fun this one.

Really not a problem improving it starting with the RAW file.

My intent here is try to make it look as natural as possible. This one is proof to ALWAYS stay a little under exposed. If your shot is overexposed you will never get back the blown out areas. But if underexposed you most often get something of everything. Please view original

Here's some basic edits in LR. Edited the RAW version.

Good to see you having fun, SoHillGuy. Two very colourful images. I love how you recreated the over-exposed path.

Great job, Jim, and good advice. Your colors look much better.

You recovered lost details for sure, DWU2. The colors come across strongly. I like it but where did the sun go? A rhetorical question. Good work, Your interpretation shows how much detail can be recovered from over-exposed areas. Nice job. (Oops! On the noise?)

You guys are having all the fun so I decided to play too.
GIMP and Windows Gallery (Don't snigger. LOL!), That's strange, it looks so different on clicking download to how it looks on my monitor. I think I get it, I forgot to resize it down before posting. Oops!

MMC I think your interpolation is quite good. Everyone needs to see the download to see your colors better. I would like to see the Hog Administration change the background to a light grey or keep it white instead of the yellow. I think the yellow has a strange effect when viewing.
Now since all this is just having fun. I chose to make a couple of moves to your picture I hope you don't mind, but if you do I apologies right now and won't do it again without prior approval. What I did was to take your picture into PS and then make a copy. On the copy I took it into Camera raw and moved the sliders. I didn't save my working file but as I remember it here are the setting: Highlights-9, Shadows +43, Whites +53, Blacks-14 and then said OK. Back in main photoshop I made a mask of this layer and hid just the pavement to bring back your original look. I think it came out having the best color that Shakey might have seen. I want to give MMC the credit for getting this version a great beginning.
