Hello all, I would like help setting up my Canon speedlight for off camera shoots.
I am using the Canon 580EXII on Pocket Wizard FlexTT5 on a tripod away from the camera. The camera is Canon 5D MII and a Mini TT1 to trigger the 580. My problem is that the system is nit communicating with each other. I have reset the Flex TT5 and the Mini TT1 to factory settings and yet I cant get it to trigger the 580 speedlight.

Is there something in the camera menu that I am missing? In the flash function settings what should it be? I have tried both ETTL and manual but something is still missing.

I have tried following the manual but sometimes a little direction from a "fresh mind" to point you to the "obvious" can work better when the brain seem to freeze.

If someone could give me a step-by-step setup I would be thankful.

I have the older model 550ex and I used a 430ex as a slave. did you set the flash you are using off camera to "slave". Not sure if you have to with the equipment your using just a thought?

Here is something I did once depending on your flash/trigger mounts I happen to put the flash on backwards on the mount and it took me awhile to figure it out. I pit the flash in the mount the right direction and worked fine. Just a though.

I am not putting any flash on camera. I am triggering the camera with the Pocket Wizard Mini FlexTT1 and the 580 speedlite is off camera on a tripod. The signal from the pocket wizard is radio signal that is suppose to trigger the same as if the 580 is on camera. I am sure it is on my camera\flash settings that is the problem.

Start by troubleshooting. Check your Speedlite on the hot shoe. If it works, then follow the FAQ on your instruction book that came with your Pocket Wizard. Then call Pocket Wizard if all else fails.
