Good idea, ...a great idea! you caught the moment, but this one shows the merits of a good candid capture. That glance from the donor strongly distracts from the act of the alms giver, which is really the subject.
Keep this moment in mind and try to arrange for a candid capture next time.
I watched a really good New York street photographer in the late 60s whose schtick was as a gawking tourist looking up at buildings with camera in hand but really aware of nearby developing opportunities, and would quietly turn his lens's attention at just the right moment for a candid exposure. If caught-in-the-act he would just smile/grin in an unfailingly ingratiating way and acknowledge the subject he had just photographed...never saw any unpleasantness.
