It was a foggy day today when I went to a city park to photograph Red Squirrels. There were at least 10-15 of them and they were hungry. They would take one of my peanuts and climb up the nearest tree to eat it.
This squirrel was about 30-35 feet away. I used 560mm.

Thank you very much, Woodsman. It's worth a peanut to get a good squirrel shot.

Some of these small squirrels will eat out of your hand, but most are too shy about getting close to you. This time of year they are very hungry, so they can not resist a good peanut.
Thank you for looking, jsharp.

Nice picture of the squirrel.
They are cute, but....
My wife wants to know why I don't solve the problem of them coming into the yard to get at the bird feeder by putting out food for them away from the bird feeder on the upper terrace where the dogs can't go. I asked her how many squirrels she thought our yard could hold after the word gets around. At present they have to get past Terror and Toby, our two little dogs. It discourages them and the dogs and squirrels get exercise. I get to laugh watching the rodeo/riot combo.

Very nice shot. When I was a kid, I trained one to come inside the house, crawl up my leg, get his/her peanut and run back outside with it. My mother was not impressed at all.

Thank you very much, Robert. I know a lot of people don't like squirrels, but I do.

When my wife and I go to this park, a few brave squirrels will try to climb up our legs to get the peanuts. They are cute, but they can be a pest. I like them, they make a a good model for my camera.
Thank you very much, bsprague.

It has been almost 6 months since I photographed any squirrels and I know they are hungry this time of year so I took my peanuts with me to our city park and fed them and I was able to sneak in some photos of them. I will post some more squirrel photos soon.
Thank you for your valued comment, Swamp-Cork.
