I hope this is in the right spot!
A Mom and son moved in up the road from us last year. The son stopped in one day to see Sammy. Was out in the yard taking pictures( go figure) :) He was very interest in my camera. We went to his house and I asked his Mom if it was ok for him to tag a long with me through the woods. We had a great time. And he started coming down every chance he got. I finally got him a D50 to play with. And 2 of my old lenses. That was the only way I could get my camera back.;) He is doing VERY good. I just wanted to show you all one of his latest shots. I took him out to see the Eagles the other day. Let him use my 300 f2.8 and a 2TC hooked to it. He did all his shooting hand held! Little brat! :) The writing on the picture is for a contest we are having. We do a picture a week. We are on week 29. We are going to find someone to judge them when we get done. I think I just lost!!

Nice capture. For you next picture of him, are going to clinb the tree and cut away those branches and the ones growing out his head (lol)? Now your going to tell me that nest would fall. Wildlife photos would so much easier if the animals would pose correctly and on cue.

Thanks everyone! I forgot to say, his Dad was killed in a car wreck 4 years ago. He is doing pretty good. His mom says he can go out camping with Janny and I. He is so looking forward to that.

He has been given a gift in you. A week after my son turned two his dad passed away from cancer. He is 15 now and a fine young man. I would have loved him having someone like you in his life. You are a good man Erv.

Thank you all for the kind words. It goes back to my childhood. I would never raise a child like I was raised.(long story). I try to look for the good in everyone and try to find it. Janny and I are blessed with two nice young men. I give her credit for the way they turned out. I love kids and most of the time I get along with them better than the grownups! Ha. Guess I am just a kid at heart.
This young man is a great person. Has his head on straight and knows what he wants. A real winner in my book.

I'll vote for ya, Erv. I have always thought that the best thing in the whole world that can ever be said about a man is "He's a good man" and you are! You will be blessed for the good you are doing and that young man will never forget what you have done for him.

Great photo, branches and all. We have to keep in mind: these animals aren't doing all this stuff for us and our cameras. It would appear your young friend is "at one" with his equipment, and has excellent timing, as well as the steady grip you mentioned.
You're probably finding out that as you inspire him, he will also inspire you. Great relationships like this are never a one-way street.
